To all our international guests we wish to extend a warm invitation to join us at this year's National Training Event (NTE). We look forward to sharing with you in this exciting time of teaching and fellowship as we learn more from God's word together. We would also like to inform you of the requirements you will need to fulfil in order to attend this conference.
How do I register if I'm coming from outside Australia?
To register for this year's conference you will need to fill in an International Sponsorship Form which you can download here. ALL international guests who are being sponsored to attend MUST complete this form before they can be registered. We cannot process your NTE rego until we have received this information.
Please note: In order to gain sponsorship you will need to have the approval of your national IFES secretary.
What am I required to pay for?
If you are being sponsored to attend we will pay your conference registration fees. However, you will need to pay for your travel costs to get to and from the event. AFES is in no way responsible for your transport to and from NTE.
Please also be aware that AFES has a limited number of complimentary registrations. The closing date for applications is 31 October 2011.
Further information
Q: Do I need a visa?
You may require a visa to attend, however you will need to check with your travel agent to find out. If you require a sponsorship letter to obtain this, please email us as soon as possible so we can supply that for you.
Q: Do I need to choose a strand?
No, you will be automatically be placed in Strand 1 for the conference.
Q: How do I get from Sydney to Canberra?
The quickest and most accessible option is to catch a bus from Sydney Airport. The two main companies are
Murrays, which offers tickets as cheap as $15 from Sydney to Canberra, and
Greyhound, which are also cheap if booked early and online.
The bus will pass EPIC on the way to Canberra. It is sometimes possible for the bus driver to stop and let you off outside the conference centre. Ask your driver if this is possible otherwise you will need to make your own way back to the centre.
Q: What if I arrive in Canberra early (i.e. before Saturday morning)?
If you require accommodation for certain nights before NTE then you will need to let us know on the form so we can arrange that for you. You should not assume that we have organised accommodation for you for any nights before Saturday if you have not requested it on the form.
Q: How do I get to the Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC) once I arrive in Canberra?
To get to EPIC from the airport or the bus station the best option is to take a taxi. With multiple people you will be able to spread the cost around. EPIC is about 20 minutes drive from the airport, and only a few kilometres from the Jolimont Centre on Northbourne Avenue, where the buses will arrive.

Q: What about the mission afterwards?
After NTE each campus sends out individual teams to take part in a short term mission from Wednesday 7 - Sunday 11 December. If you would like to participate then you are more than welcome, however you will need to let us know beforehand so that we can allocate you to a team. Please be aware that you will need to adjust your travel arrangements accordingly.
